未来博士3分間コンペティション インフォ・セッション 第1回開催報告

　2018年6月14日（木）16：00～17：00 広島大学東広島キャンパス 生物生産学部C201講義室において初回が開講されました。学部生、大学院生ら40名が参加しました。
HIRAKU 3MT Info-Sesshon #1 was held at C201, School of Applied Biological Science, Higashi-Hiroshima Campus, on Thursday, June 14, 2018 (16:00 – 17:00).

　はじめに、3分間コンペティションの本場、クイーンズランド大学に在籍し、3MT大会出場経験を持つライティングセンターフェロー トッド・アレンが、3MTの概要や魅力を語るとともに、自分の研究を3分間で魅力的に語るコツについてテンポよく解説。
Todd Allen, Writing Fellow at Writing Center, with experience to compete at 3MT in University of Queensland (the founder of 3MT), explained the overview of the competition and ellaborated the TIPS of three minute presentation.

　 会場には昨年度大会「未来博士3分間コンペティション2017」の出場者が2名来場しており、その体験や学びについて語ってくれました。二人とも難しい研究内容を3分間に凝縮する難しさは感じていたこと、また当日に向けて友達に聞いてもらいながら一緒に練習した様子は印象的でした。
Two competitors from HIRAKU 3MT 2017 joined us to share their experience, what they have learned and how they prepared. Both of them felt it quite difficult to squeeze their research into three minutes. They seem to have repeated practice asking their friends to be their audience, which was in sync with the advice from Todd.

つづいて参加者たちは数人ずつのグループに分かれ、実際に自分の研究を発表することを想定したスライド作成に挑戦しました。トッドのアドバイスを受けながら、1枚にポイントとなるエッセンスを凝縮する難しさと面白さを学ぶ時間となりました。
Participants then challenged a group work to create a 3MT slide on their research. It was difficult, but with useful advice from Todd, they enjoyed creating an attractive slide to make it easy to understand for public audience while not to make it disturb their speech.
